Tooth Type Selection Guide
Match the tooth profile to your fiber mix. As a general rule, B-series types (B174, B174-2, B20, B187) suit cotton and natural fibers (carded cotton, combed cotton, flax blends), while S-series types (S21, S43) suit synthetic fibers (polyester, viscose, acrylic and blends). B300 and OK61 are newer DN-coated types with application data under confirmation.
| Tooth Type | Recommended Fiber Applications | Coating | Schlafhorst OEM No. | JSM Code |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| B174 / B174-2 | Carded cotton, flax blends (best); combed cotton, viscose (OK); not recommended for P/C or synthetic blends | DN | 117-037 295 | 421741 |
| B20 | Carded & combed cotton, flax blends (best); viscose (OK); not for pure synthetic fibers | DN | 117-037 297 | 422001 |
| B187 | Combed cotton, viscose (best); blends (OK); not for carded cotton, acrylic or flax | DN | — | On request |
| S21 | Polyester, viscose, acrylic & P/C blends (best); cotton (OK); not for flax — the main synthetic choice | DN | — | 422101 |
| S43 | Polyester, P/C & P/V blends (best); not for cotton, viscose, acrylic or flax | DN | — | 424301 |
| B300 | New tooth type — application data under confirmation | DN | — | 423001 |
| OK61 | New tooth type — application data under confirmation | DN | — | 426101 |
Suffix system: DN = diamond-nickel coating (HV 1000-1200) · NG64 = Rieter R-series configuration.

How Clothing Rings Influence Yarn Quality
A worn or damaged clothing ring can cause poor fiber opening, higher trash content, increased yarn CV%, more end breakages and unstable spinning performance. Replacing the clothing ring at the correct maintenance interval helps maintain consistent yarn quality and machine efficiency. Matching the right tooth type to your fiber mix — see the Tooth Type Selection Guide above — also plays a key role in spinning stability.
Practical rule: check clothing rings every 3–6 months depending on fiber type and rotor speed; combing roller speeds of 7,500–9,000 rpm accelerate wear, so mills running high speeds should stock replacement rings in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an integrated clothing ring?
An integrated clothing ring is a one-piece ring used in the opening roller (combing roller) assembly of rotor spinning machines for fiber opening and cleaning. One-piece design gives superior concentricity for fully automatic machines.
Which machines are compatible?
Our clothing rings cover Schlafhorst Autocoro SE8–SE20 and Rieter R40/R60/R66 (NG64 configuration) OE machines.
Which tooth type should I choose for my fiber?
Use the Tooth Type Selection Guide above. As a rule: B174/B174-2 and B20 for carded cotton, combed cotton and flax blends; B187 for combed cotton and viscose; S21 as the main synthetic choice (polyester, viscose, acrylic and blends); S43 for polyester and P/C blends. B300 and OK61 are newer DN-coated types — contact us for application data.
What do DN and NG64 mean?
DN = diamond-nickel coating (HV 1000-1200), offering maximum wear resistance for abrasive fibers and high-speed mills. NG64 = the Rieter R-series configuration (R40/R60/R66). B-series tooth types suit cotton and natural fibers; S-series tooth types suit synthetic fibers.
Can you manufacture according to samples or drawings?
Yes. We can produce compatible replacement parts based on customer samples or technical drawings, with 100% inspection before delivery.
When should a clothing ring be replaced?
Replacement depends on fiber type, running speed and wear condition. As a practical rule, inspect clothing rings every 3–6 months; combing roller speeds of 7,500–9,000 rpm accelerate wear, so high-speed mills should stock replacement rings in advance.
How do I choose the correct model?
Please send your machine model, part number or a photo of the existing part. Our team will help identify the correct replacement within 24 hours.
