What is it

More Than a Ball Bearing

A rotor bearing is the precision assembly that supports and centers the rotor shaft inside the spin box — handling speeds up to 120,000 RPM while absorbing intense axial vibration.

⚙️

An Integrated Positioning System

Unlike a standard industrial bearing, the rotor bearing is a positioning system. Shoulder dimensions L1 and L2 determine exactly how it seats against the housing — 0.5 mm off = bearing seizure.

🔧

Two Body Types

JSM manufactures Standard body (Schlafhorst / Rieter) and Segmented body (Saurer BD / high-speed configurations). Verify your spin box type before ordering.

Three Numbers Identify Any Bearing

A rotor bearing is defined by shaft diameter, shoulder positions, and speed rating. Find all three on your existing part or spin box — then use the selector below.

1

Shaft Diameter — Φd

8 mm (ultra-high speed), 8.9 mm (universal, most common) or 10 mm (heavy-duty). Seat Φd1 is 22 mm on every JSM model.

2

Shoulders — L1 / L2

L1=13 / L2=61 mm is standard. L1=18 / L2=56 mm is a separate group (models 73-1-31, 73-1-22, 73-1-14) that does not interchange.

3

Operating Speed — RPM

Match your spin box speed (45,000–115,000 RPM) to the model’s recommended range. Running above rated speed shortens life and risks seizure.

Surface Coating Technology

DN Diamond vs BD Boronized

Coating choice is the single biggest factor in bearing lifespan at high speed. Choose by your operating RPM and budget.

Flagship

DN Diamond

Diamond-Like Carbon
Surface HardnessHV 8,000 – 10,000
Service Life2–3× longer
Cotton DepositNear-zero buildup
Recommended For≥ 100,000 RPM
Yarn QualityFewer breakouts · stable CV%
Cost PositionPremium

BD Boronized

Boronizing Treatment
Surface HardnessStandard industrial grade
Service LifeBaseline (industry standard)
Cotton DepositModerate · regular cleaning
Recommended For≤ 90,000 RPM
Yarn QualityGood · standard counts
Cost PositionCost-effective

Pro tip: For high-speed machines (100K+ RPM), the DN diamond upgrade typically pays for itself within 3–6 months through reduced maintenance stops and extended replacement intervals.

Maintenance

Common Problems — Quick Diagnosis

Most rotor bearing failures follow recognizable patterns. Identify yours and act before it becomes a production stop.

🌡
Overheating
Bearing housing noticeably hot to the touch during operation.
Check: wrong grease type, or running above rated RPM. Use high-temp lithium grease. Never over-pack cavity.
🔊
Noise / Vibration
Unusual sound during high-speed rotation.
Grinding = damaged raceway → replace immediately. Whining that changes with speed = lubrication breakdown.
Axial Shaft Play
Rotor shaft moves noticeably forward or back under hand pressure.
Play > 0.02 mm = replace. No repair possible. Worn positioning system cannot be shimmed.
🔄
Replacement Intervals
Planned replacement before failure.
24/7 production: 12–18 mo (Series 3/5) · 18–24 mo (Series 6 DN ceramic). Dusty environments: reduce by 30%.
FAQ

Rotor Bearing — Frequently Asked Questions

Can JSM rotor bearings directly replace OEM bearings?

Yes. JSM bearings are manufactured to the exact mounting dimensions and speed ratings required by Schlafhorst, Rieter, Saurer, Taitan, Jingwei and Rifa OE machines — no machine modification is needed. You keep the same part numbers, at 40–60% lower cost.

How do I know which shaft diameter my machine uses?

Three shaft diameters are available: Φd = 8 mm, Φd = 8.9 mm and Φd = 10 mm (Φd1 = 22 mm on every model). Also check the shoulder positions L1/L2 — 13/61 mm or 18/56 mm — because a 0.5 mm mismatch can cause bearing seizure. When in doubt, send us a photo of your existing bearing and we will confirm the model within 24 hours.

DN diamond or BD boronized — which coating should I choose?

Choose DN diamond (HV 8,000–10,000) for machines running at or above 100,000 RPM — it lasts 2–3× longer with near-zero cotton build-up. Choose BD boronized as the cost-effective standard for machines up to 90,000 RPM. If you run mixed lines, standardize on DN for the high-speed positions and BD for the rest.

Which machines are JSM rotor bearings compatible with?

Schlafhorst Autocoro (SE7–SE20), Rieter R-series and BD-series (R1, R4, R20, R40, R60, R923, R35, R36, R37), Saurer BD 200–448 (BD 6, BD 7), and Chinese platforms Taitan TQF-268/368/568, Jingwei K80/K90/JWF 1618, Rifa RF-RS10/RF-RS30. Machine not listed? Send us your bearing or drawing — we reverse-engineer in-house.

What is the MOQ and lead time?

We accept trial orders (small quantities for testing) as well as bulk production orders. Standard models ship within 7–15 days; custom reverse-engineered orders typically take 20–30 days depending on specification.

How do I place an order?

Send your machine model or existing part number through the inquiry form. JSM confirms the exact model and sends a quotation within 24 hours, followed by a proforma invoice with payment terms. Production starts once payment is confirmed.
