Why XTC Groove for Compact Fine Yarn

The XTC extra-narrow groove is the tightest profile in the range: a compact deposition zone for the finest and most exacting counts inside the Ne 16–40 band. Rotors in this group share that groove and differ by cup diameter, so the groove can stay constant while the count moves.

XTC Groove — Applicable Yarn Count Range

Suited to compact fine counts. If the schedule runs medium or coarser, the standard G or U groove gives more operating width. Groove and cup size are confirmed together when the order is placed.

XTC Groove — The Tightest Fibre Zone

The extra-narrow XTC profile presses the fibre ribbon into a compact zone, giving the closest control of fibre placement available in this catalogue. That translates into cleaner yarn surfaces and fewer appearance faults — the reason compact fine yarns are run on extra-narrow rotors rather than standard profiles. The tighter the groove, the more the profile depends on consistent raw material and a steady count.

Extra-Narrow Zone

The tightest groove in the range gives the closest control of where fibres land during deposition.

≡

Compact Yarn Appearance

Tight placement control is what makes compact-style fine yarns look uniform doff after doff.

↓

Fewer Appearance Faults

The narrow zone suppresses the thin and thick places that show up immediately in fine knitted fabric.

≈

Smooth Yarn Face

Precise fibre placement at insertion produces the smooth surface compact yarns are bought for.

Surface Engineering

What BD Means: Base and Working Surface

The trailing letters of the model code are two independent codes, not one word: B is the substrate, D is the working surface. This code is a two-layer build: B puts a boronized (boron-steel) substrate under the film, D is the diamond top layer. The base is what stops fibre impact from deforming the rotor and cracking the coating. Every assembly is 100% dynamically balanced before it leaves the balancing line.

B — Boronized base
In this code · Substrate layer
Substrate hardening
Boronized / boron steel Supports the D layer Fibre impact

B = boronized (boron-steel) substrate. A diamond film is only microns thick, so the steel underneath decides whether it survives: a soft substrate deforms under fibre and grit impact and the film cracks and spalls off. The boronized base is the hardening step that keeps the diamond layer intact.

D — Diamond coating
In this code · Working surface
HV 1000-1200
CVD diamond film Friction 0.05–0.1 Anti-stick

D = diamond top layer, grown on the prepared substrate as a micron-scale film. It takes the fibre and grit contact directly, which is where the wear resistance, the friction coefficient of 0.05–0.1 and the anti-stick behaviour come from that hold the groove profile over long runs. Diamond coating technology of US origin, applied on JSM’s own treatment line.

Compatibility

Which Rieter Machines Use 36-XTC-BD-AE?

The R40-AE bearing locks this rotor to the Rieter R40 platform. Rotors from a different bearing group will not interchange, however similar the cup looks.

✓ Rieter R40 — R40-AE bearing
Fully automatic platform. 36-XTC-BD-AE is one of 9 rotor models in the R40-AE group (31–41 mm diameter range).
✗ R40-EC — the second R40 rotor group
Same R40 machine, different bearing: see the R40-EC models such as 31-XG-BD-EC and 46-XTC-BD-EC.
✗ R60-AE1 / R60-EC1 — newer generation
The R60 rotor groups use their own bearings and rotor sizes (28–40 mm) and do not interchange with R40 rotors.
✗ Rieter R923 / R35 / R36 / R37
Semi-automatic platforms running T013 or 73-1-69 bearings with C-series and S-series rotor codes.

FAQ

36-XTC-BD-AE — Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions buyers ask most often about this rotor. If yours is not listed, send it with your machine model and current rotor code — we reply within 24 hours.

Is 36-XTC-BD-AE compatible with my Rieter R40 machine?
36-XTC-BD-AE uses the R40-AE bearing, which is the rotor standard for the Rieter R40 platform. It is one of 9 rotor models in the R40-AE group (31–41 mm diameter range). If your spinning box runs a different bearing series the rotor will not interchange — send us your machine model and current rotor code and we confirm within 24 hours.
What does the model code 36-XTC-BD-AE mean?
36 is the rotor cup diameter in millimetres — Ø36 mm. XTC is the groove, a extra narrow profile for compact fine counts. In the code, B is the boronized (boron-steel) substrate and D the diamond top layer. The code ends with the bearing identifier: the R40-AE bearing for the Rieter R40 platform.
What yarn counts does the XTC groove suit?
The XTC profile covers Ne 16–40, compact fine counts. Above the band the groove is tighter than the fibre ribbon needs; below it the wider profiles run better.
What do the letters BD mean in the model code 36-XTC-BD-AE?
BD is two codes, not one word. B is the boronized (boron-steel) substrate and D is the diamond top layer, so a -BD- rotor is a hardened base with a diamond working face. The point of the pairing is mechanical: a diamond film is only microns thick, and if the steel underneath is soft, fibre and grit impact dents it and the film cracks off. The boronized base is what keeps the diamond layer intact. A -D- code carries the diamond layer on the standard substrate.
How much does an OEM-equivalent rotor save versus the original?
JSM rotor complete assemblies are dimensionally identical to the OEM original and are supplied at 40–60% below the original part price. Standard lead time is 7–15 days, with urgent orders on request. Send your quantity for a firm quotation.
Can I order the rotor spindle or rotor cup separately?
Yes. A rotor complete assembly consists of the rotor cup, the rotor spindle (shaft) and the bearing. We supply complete assemblies or individual components — tell us which part is worn and we advise the most cost-effective option.
